How Persistence of Mind is Key To Success
Persistence is a Teacher
When you feel like you’re going to throw in the towel, don’t.
It’s cliche but bear with me. It’s cliche for a reason.
When you feel like giving up is when you need to keep pushing the most, regardless of your situation.
You know how that old saying goes: Winners never quit and quitters never win.
It’s true. Nobody successful got where they are today because they quit. They got where they are because of persistence.
They were going to succeed, no matter what. Their mantra was “I will”.
It’s OK to take a step back and reassess your situation and try again, but don’t give up. Don’t toss it away to be a bitter resentment.
If it’s your dream we’re talking about (and it probably is), you don’t just throw your hands up in the air.
Instead, channel your persistence that is buried inside you like the cooled lava waiting to crack open and overflow.
You need to rekindle that fiery spirit that got you started in the first place.
Why You Need Persistence
It’s a fact of life that we’re going to have setbacks, short-comings, failures, and disappointments.
Nobody likes negativity. We can’t avoid it – it’s part of life.
The great Taoist mind Lao Tzu says it best:
“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them; that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.”
Of course, you play a part in how things flow naturally with your mindset.
Rather than look at them through a negative mindset, try looking at them through a positive lens.
What can you take from a setback?
Persistence is definitely one quality you can take. Wisdom is another.
A new way of seeing is a third!
Ambition is a fourth!
If we didn’t know disappointments and setbacks, how could we know success? How can we expect to grow if everything went smoothly and exactly how we wanted?
People often speak about persistence when they look at successful people. They may even mistake persistence for stubbornness. You just might not realize it.
J.K. Rowling was rejected several, several times by publishers when she came to them with her now world-famous Harry Potter series.
Walt Disney was fired from the Kansas City Star because he “lacked imagination”.
Soichiro Honda, Thomas Edison, Sir James Dyson, and countless others make the list of successful people having a serious dose of setback, only to push through with persistence.
What drives their success is their willpower – their persistence.
Persistence or Stubbornness?
Persistence probably sounds an awful lot like stubbornness. We can’t deny their similarities – they’re sister qualities.
What sets them apart is quite simple:
Persistence has to do with willpower. You will be successful, no matter what.
Stubbornness has to do with you not doing something. Or you won’t do something.
For example, you won’t change your mind, no matter what.
When you think like that you’re being stubborn, not persistent.
In fact, you might be sitting with stubbornness right now if you feel you won’t change your mind, no matter what!
But, maybe there’s a glimmer of hope within your stubbornness, which brought you to this article.
Is the lava of your passion about to burst through the cracks of your cooled passion?
Do you hope to transform your stubbornness into persistence?
Well, what’s stopping you?
The only thing standing in your way is you.
Persistence is a Teacher
It should be clear that persistence is a teacher. Rather than someone that molds your knowledge and qualities you hold, this teacher manifests in various situations.
Persistence acts as a teacher because it is so heavily tied in with the law of attraction.
The core principle of the law of attraction is this:
Positive thoughts bring positive experiences. Likewise, negative thoughts bring negative experiences.
Whether these experiences are wanted or unwanted, they’re still attracted to you.
While it’s true that life has all sorts of plans for all sorts of people, we can at the very least control our mindset.
Sure, you’re going to have people who suffer. Bad things seem to happen to good people.
But even the poorest of people in unfortunate circumstances can use the law of attraction, too.
For example, someone who may not have material wealth may have plenty of non-material wealth.
They’re probably beloved by family and community. They’re able to easily find happiness regardless of their circumstances.
That’s all frame of mind and how you react to the world.
If they can use and rely on their will and positivity, why shouldn’t you be able to?
In the context of endeavors, applying positive mentality and persistence, you will find your success.
You may even find unexpected success.
The old saying your parents have always said to you is true. If you give up, you’ll never succeed.
You can do, or be, whatever you set your mind to.
The important thing is to remain realistic about your endeavors.
If you expect success to fall into your lap, that’s not gonna happen.
It’s going to take hard work and a positive mindset for success to happen.
Whether it’s about relationships, hobbies, your career, your idea, your education – persistence will help you find success.
You’ve probably had some form of success, even if you have a setback.
Look at your situation from different angles.

Are you ready to change your mindset and outlook on life?
Of course, it might sound scary to change the way you think, but positive is always a welcomed friend.
