I Want To Be Happy
I Want To Be Happy
I Want To Be Happy, a simple goal expressed as though it were the very least we could expect of life. To fail to achieve this perfect state would somehow leave us feeling short changed or cheated by the life experience.
Some people phrase it differently, and many attach requirements or specifics to the statement by deciding in advance how happiness must be packaged.
Nonetheless it sounds so reasonable an expectation of our time on earth and yet for some reason so many people spend their whole lifetime not only looking in vain for the location of this utopian dream, but also failing to even find the starting point.
Many believe that this illusive state would be possible if they could only win the lottery, inherit great wealth or even perhaps meet the man or woman of their dreams.
Religious believers are even willing to accept the destination is not even within this lifetime, whilst agnostics suspend peace of mind until they get some proof.
Essentially mankind is cursed to keep making the same mistake over and over again; the assumption that happiness is an external entity – out there somewhere for us to stumble upon.
Most people believe that happiness is not available here in this moment but incorrectly seen as a destination that once located has the power to dissolve all the suffering, pain, anxiety and worry of life into the ether forever more.
I Want To Be Happy – Swallow The Happy Pill Extended Edition
I Want To Be Happy… The fact is, the vast majority of people live their lives in states ranging somewhere between mild discontentment to downright suicidal. Some are better at hiding it than others, but so many believe that true happiness is beyond their reach unless someone gives it to them.
More often than not the blame for this perpetual misery is laid at the door of the current financial predicament and when asked how much of a pay rise would be needed to ensure a stress free, comfortable life it’s common for the answer to be double what their current salary is.
They confidently declare that if they could only reach that new aspiration then they would be happy for the rest of their lives. The reality is if you granted their wish and repeated the exercise no more than a year later they still wouldn’t be happy with what they had.
In the cold light of day this may appear to be just evidence of greed, but labeling it as such is pointless and simply goes to demonstrate the popular human propensity to lay blame.
Happiness is indeed a simple request, but most assume it is hidden and only the very few are fortunate enough to discover the treasure map that leads to its secret location.
