Ready To Follow Your Dreams?
A dream is something that is uniquely yours. It’s your life’s purpose, and it’s something you should always be working towards achieving.
“Follow your dreams” is a quote you’ve probably heard since elementary school. If the quote is so popular, then where are there so few people doing it?
You probably have a litany of reasons about why you’re not currently pursuing your dreams. Maybe you don’t think it’s the right time, you could be worried about failing, or you may not truly know why you haven’t done anything yet.
You can think of a lot of reasons to not follow your dreams, but we can tell you two awesome reasons why you should.
You’ll feel fulfilled
Do you feel like there’s something missing from your everyday life?
You have a good enough job, you have friends and family, so you’re baffled about what could be missing.
That lack of fulfillment you feel could be the result of an unrequited dream. Instead of settling for “good enough”, do something that truly makes you happy.
Other people’s opinions don’t matter
“That’s an unrealistic dream.”
“You’ll never make it!”
“You need to think about something more practical.”
How many of you reading this post have heard those phrases come from people you’ve talked to about your dream?
It can be easy to get swept up in worrying about the opinions of other people. We want the approval of our family and friends, but when it comes to dreams it shouldn’t matter.
The bottom line is that nobody has to live your life but you. If you base your life off of the opinions of other people, you won’t truly be happy.
You don’t have to live your life the way other people expect you to. Live for you and nobody else.
How to follow your dreams
Now that you know you need to live for you, it’s time to start making your dreams a reality!
It doesn’t matter if you want to write the next great novel, lose 20 pounds, or make it to the major leagues. If you want to achieve any dream, there are a few things that are essential to do.
Start devoting time to your dreams
There’s an old saying that it takes 10,000 hours to be truly good at something. If you want to follow your dreams, you need to get down to work!
If you’re pressed for time, try to find at least a few minutes a day to devote to your dreams.
Whether that’s examining your budget, signing up for a class, or just thinking about what you need to do next, you’ll be spending your time the right way.
Surround yourself with positive people
If you’re trying to follow your dreams, the last thing you need are nay-sayers questioning what you’re doing.
Find positive people that share your passions and connect with them. You’ll be surrounded by people that understand what you want to do and will support you along the way.
Get rid of fear
Fear is probably the one thing holding you back from truly following your dreams.
Fear of failure, fear of ridicule, fear of the unknown, all of these fears can get in the way of what you really want to do. It’s time to banish fear from your life.
Don’t worry about what will go wrong, worry about what can go right. Once you realize that you don’t have to fear everything, you’ll learn you can do anything.
