Alcohol Lied to Me – The Intelligent Escape from Alcohol Addiction

Alcohol Lied to MeCraig Beck is a well-regarded family man with two children, a nice home, and a successful media career; a director of several companies and at one time the trustee of a large children’s charity. Outwardly, Craig was a highly successful and functioning professional man in spite of a ‘two-bottles-of-wine-a-night” drinking habit.

For 20 years he struggled to control his drinking, all the time refusing to label himself an alcoholic because he didn’t believe he met the stereotypical image that the word portrayed. He tried countless ways to cut down; attempting ‘dry months’, banning himself from drinking spirits, only drinking at the weekend and special occasions (and found that it is amazing how even the smallest of event can suddenly become ‘special’).

Alcohol Lied to Me

All these ‘willpower’ based attempts to stop drinking failed (exactly as they were destined to do). Slowly he discovered the truth about alcohol addiction and one by one all the lies he had previously believed started to fall apart. For the first time he noticed that he genuinely didn’t want to drink anymore. In this book he will lead you though the same amazing process.

Dear Craig,
I am a recent beneficiary of your book, Alcoholism Lied to Me. The reviews on Amazon convinced me to try it to address my 1-and-growing bottle of wine a night habit that I could not stop. In fact, I thought about alcohol almost all the time & could never resist the desire to open the wine after 4 PM. Used to be 5 PM, sometimes earlier, then I started recently to open a 2nd bottle, and was generally “fast asleep” (=passed out) by 9. Last month, I found your book, and a couple of weeks later I spent a week with some old (we are all quite old) college friends. During that week, I decided not to drink and did not, and I haven’t since then. It was a watershed. Today is 5 weeks since the last whole bottle+; Tuesday will be 5 weeks since ½ glass on September 25th.

This is awesome so far. On some afternoons I do have a deep longing for a drink, and that voice keeps telling me how good it would be to have one. It’s happening as I write, in fact. But so far, the voice has been silenced or kept at a distance, and I have not been thinking about alcohol & having a drink except on those intermittent afternoons. I attribute that to your message—alcohol is poison etc.—and thank you for providing it.

Alcohol has been an issue for me in one way or another since I was 12, which was a long time ago. I would tell you the stories, but you probably have heard them many times before. Thanks so much for the help!

Best wishes,
James (name changed)

      1. Hi Craig
Stopped drinking for seven months last year. Made mistake of drinking “just one” at Christmas 2015! Now desperate to be out of the prison again. Have read Alcohol lied to me again but scared that I have ” blown it” forever and there is no hope.

Is that true? Is there no hope once you have gone back to drinking?

I know the power of revelation is diminished from first reading and succeeding. But want to believe that there is a chance of success?

        Thanks

        Sarah x

        1. Hi Sarah

Most people relapse once… you haven’t ruined it. Now you have solid evidence that no matter how in control you think you are ‘just one drinking’ is always going to be a trick!

  6. Hi Craig- I just finished your book and loved it!!! What do you suggest reading after alcohol lied to me?’

  7. Its been 5 months, i live in Spain and tonight out with friends i realised how i hate drunk people. It is the same with smoking, i cant be near smokers. Now it seems i cant be near drunks… What can i do about this feeling of being left out?

  8. I’m enjoying my journey of not drinking addictive poison. So far so good. Thanks so much for your amazing advice.

  9. I watched the web seminar , but do not have the funds to buy now. I really was hoping this was something that would be free but I understand. I watch your videos on YouTube and maybe that’s enough I hope to help me.
    Thank you, Carolyn L.

  10. Hi there,
Craig, thank you…thank you so much and I am so grateful that I found you.
At 1 bottle and a half of wine a night plus more on the weekend, I have read many books to try and cut down and or quit, I have been trough social work and hypnotherapy, and nothing worked until I read a review from someone suggesting to browse through your website and read : Alcohol lied to me before purchasing anything else. I was just looking for another self-help book, not necessarily wanting to quit that day..but after watching your videos and reading your book, I did quit ,that very same day. Craig, you have a way of getting the message through. Thank you for making this your passion, you will always be an huge inspiration for me, I will be investing in all your books xxxx Cheers , much love K.

  11. 3 yrs ago i decided i needed help to quit drinking, Craig’s audio book was the first I listened to, probably start to finish 20 times on my commute. 3 yrs later, here I am still sober. Thanks for writing this in such a relatable manner.

  12. Very helpful book overall. I would caution before taking a supplement that Craig recommends. 5-HTP can have serious side effects that can be damaging to your liver and kidneys, among other things. Otherwise, Alcohol Lied to Me is an excellent resource in the quest for sobriety.

  13. Hi Craig. I just finished listening to ‘Alcohol lied to me’. I just wanted to say thank you. I found it powerfully relatable, in parts I was moved to tears.
I am confident about moving forward into my positive sober future. Please could remind me of your website name to access your hypnosis sessions.
    Many sincere thanks again.
    Clare
