How to Achieve a Fearless Life

What holds people back from achieving their dreams? Is it bad luck? Bad timing?

Many people tend to fail in their pursuit of happiness and success. 2 in 3 Americans aren’t very happy with their life, which means there is room for improvement. Are you one of these people?

While many things can determine whether you achieve success or not, one of the biggest is fear. Many people don’t take the steps required to achieve success because of their fear.

People who are happy often live a fearless life. The best thing is, you can live this kind of life too.

Fear and the Fearless Life

Fear can seem like something that only holds you back. It may seem like it prevents you from achieving all your hopes and dreams. Yet, that isn’t the whole truth.

Fear is a natural response to potential threats. It’s your body’s way of protecting itself. Many fears are healthy: the fear of dangerous creatures, stepping into traffic, etc.

Unfortunately, the body isn’t good with determining what is actually a threat or not. Any kind of fear that isn’t based on a real threat is an irrational fear. 84% of people have some kind of irrational fear: physical ones like the fear of spiders or mental ones like the fear of commitment or success.

These kinds of fears hold you back, but you can overcome them.

Tips for Living a Fearless Life

Understand that living a fearless life doesn’t mean living without fear. It means knowing how to identify your irrational fears and confront them.

Here are some tips to help you identify and overcome these irrational fears:

  1. Identify Irrational Fears – Think about what is holding you back: is it a phobia or a mental fear? Identifying these fears can take away their power over you. Be able to label and describe them.
  2. Exposure Yourself to Fears – Confront your fears. Exposure to fears can help reduce or eliminate those fears. But, do it in small doses; limit and repeat your exposure, and remember that this can take time.
  3. Positive Thinking – Look for the positive things in your life. Research shows that positive thinking helps people to see more possibilities in their life. When you confront your fear, realize that you will overcome it.
  4. Plan Your Route to Success – Figure out what you want and how to get it. Most successful people have the habit of planning ahead so they know how they will achieve their success. Create a step-by-step plan to achieve it.
  5. Embrace Your Victories – Remember to recognize and celebrate your successes. Embracing success can rewire your brain to build up your self-confidence. You will be able to use this increased self-confidence when confronting new fears or challenges in the future.

It doesn’t have to be impossible to live a fearless life. Recognize, confront, and move past these fears. Living a fearless life will help you overcome the obstacles that hold others back.
